UEFA has announced that the 2024 Champions League final will be held at Wembley Stadium.
The decision to offer Wembley the final in three years comes only days after the national stadium was subjected to a serious security breach during the Euro 2020 final, in which over 5,000 ticketless hooligans forced their way into the concourses and took their seats among vacant seats and corridors.
Before being penalised by UEFA for the chaotic events that marred Sunday’s finale, the FA was red-faced as a result of the infraction. Despite this, the final will be held at Wembley in three years, 11 years after it hosted the 2013 European final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, UEFA has granted Istanbul’s Ataturk Stadium the 2023 Champions League final. The match was scheduled to take place in Turkey in 2020 and 2021, but UEFA was obliged to cancel both years owing to the coronavirus outbreak.
