Lauren James has completed the necessary paperwork to complete her side of a transfer record-breaking move to Chelsea. The striker from Manchester United will join the team in a deal costing up to £200,000, which is a record for two Women’s Super League clubs.
James, the younger sister of England and Chelsea right-back Reece, has already finalized her personal terms and passed her physical. With that portion of the agreement now being finalised, a Chelsea player is set to head in the opposite direction. However, barring a spectacular collapse, James will join Chelsea.
She has played for England at young level and was called up to the senior team last year by previous manager Phil Neville, but she has yet to make her senior debut.
As a result, United was hesitant to let the superstar go, but they have now been obliged to start looking for alternatives. Kyah Simon of PSV is said to be a possibility, since he would bring experience to a young club at Old Trafford.
