As Jurgen Klopp tries to replace Georginio Wijnaldum at Anfield, Aston Villa and Scotland midfielder John McGinn has piqued his interest. According to The Athletic, Klopp was particularly pleased by McGinn during Villa’s 7-2 Premier League victory over Liverpool last October.
Klopp is said to have asked McGinn’s Scotland teammate Andy Robertson if he ‘ever stops running’ after being impressed by his work rate. McGinn signed a new five-year contract with the Midlands outfit in December, putting Villa in a strong position if Liverpool make an approach.
According to the Athletic, it would take a £45-50 million bid from Liverpool, or any other team, for Villa to consider selling McGinn. To raise those cash, Liverpool would have to sell.
Klopp has reportedly asked Andy Robertson, McGinn’s Scotland team-mate, about him
