Olivier Giroud’s apologies for criticizing Kylian Mbappe’s performance in France’s 3-0 win over Bulgaria is said to have left the Chelsea forward unconvinced.
On Tuesday night, Giroud came off the bench to score twice in the final 10 minutes of the game. In his post-match interview, though, the striker expressed his displeasure with the number of passes he received from his teammates.
Mbappe was so enraged by Giroud’s words, according to RMC Sport, that he wanted to hold a press conference over it, but France manager Didier Deschamps refused.
According to the report, Giroud sought to settle matters with Mbappe during a training session on Thursday, but the Paris Saint-Germain star remained antagonistic. Giroud is believed to have stated that his words ‘got away from him’ and that his remarks were meant at a number of players, but it does not appear that this was enough for Mbappe.
