European Super League: Brendan Rodgers Slams Breakaway Clubs, Says It’s A Business Proposal

Brendan Rodgers claims Leicester City’s shock Premier League title victory prompted the so-called “dirty dozen” to consider forming a European Super League.

The Foxes shocked the football world five years ago when they won the league title, and they’ve remained fiercely competitive under Rodgers, reaching the FA Cup Final this season while still battling for a top-four finish.

If the Super League continues in this form, Rodgers, who was also Liverpool manager from 2012 to 2015, worries that the commercial side of football would become more important than the competitive side.

‘It sounds like an assault on people’s ability to attend and donate.’ The game is for the fans, and the fans, in turn, are for the players.
