Can Man City Land Both Erling Haaland And Lionel Messi This Summer?
Manchester City are reportedly still interested in signing Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland in a dramatic double transfer swoop this summer. Since last summer, when Messi stunned the football world by voicing his intention to leave Barcelona, City has been the frontrunner to sign him, but he has since backed down due to a legal dispute over his contract.
According to The Sun, City are still interested in signing Messi and Haaland once the transfer window reopens at the end of the season, amid news in Spain on Wednesday that a move to the Etihad was dead in the water.
After announcing on Monday that Sergio Aguero, the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, will depart at the end of the season when his contract expires, City have made no secret of their desire to add firepower.
The pair are estimated to cost about £200 million each, marking a bold declaration of intent from a club on the verge of winning its third Premier League title in four seasons.
