Gareth Bale Is Happy Happy At Last, He Might Just Fire Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham All The Way
When I think of Gareth Bale, two tales come to mind. The first is regarding a fourth-round FA Cup match in January 2007.
Bale, who was then playing for Southampton in the Championship, attracted a lot of attention. He was fast and wiry, and he went into the match against Manchester City with a lot of confidence. That day, he was my direct opponent, but it was also the season in which I had just received my first England cap.
I was just 13 months older than Gareth, who was 17 at the time, but I felt unstoppable in his presence. I essentially ate him for breakfast and wondered what all the fuss was about. He began his runs from too far out, and by the time he arrived at me, his energy had dwindled. I was completely unconcerned, and we won 3-1.
