Don’t Rush Back From Personal Leave; Ole Gunnar Tells David De Gear
David de Gea’s undisputed No 1 status at Manchester United is in jeopardy after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ordered him to take a break in Spain.
Dean Henderson has been given six games to prove himself in what may be Solskjaer’s first attempt to replace De Gea, and will start Sunday’s Manchester derby at the Etihad.
De Gea is on personal leave in Spain, where he will be with his pop star wife Edurne Garcia, who is expecting their first child. He’s worried about his lack of first-team chances this season and how it could affect his international prospects.
Henderson will start the Premier League games against Manchester City and West Ham, as well as the Europa League double-header with AC Milan and the FA Cup quarter-final against Leicester, after replacing De Gea in the 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
