FA Youth Cup To Be Suspended In A Bid To Help Curb The Spread Of Covid-19 For The Second Season Running

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, the 2020-21 FA Youth Cup may again be postponed.
The tournament was also paused last season because of the continuing Covid-19 outbreak before being resumed later on. Manchester City won the trophy and, last November, beat Chelsea 3-2 in the final.
At present, only the third round stage is in the competition. Football has seen an upturn in Covid-19 cases diagnosed in recent weeks as a new, more infectious strain of the virus rips through the country, like the rest of the United Kingdom.
But most recently, when the new figures were released on Monday, there was a slight decline in cases in the Premier League – down to 36 from 40. In Scotland, with the exception of the top two divisions, football has been suspended for three weeks in an attempt to avoid the spread of the virus across the region.
