Football Fans Could Be Back In Grounds Before Christmas – Boris Johnson
Sportsmail will disclose that football fans will return to stadiums to watch matches in the Premier League and EFL in December under plans drawn up by the government.
Officials at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport have now sent plans to the Cabinet Office for spectators to attend games in areas where coronavirus infection rates are low once the second national lockdown is lifted, sources close to negotiations on the return of fans say.
The plans have not yet been agreed by the government, but football sources are highly encouraged that DCMS is prepared to place the national game on a par with other sports, after months of criticism that the arts were permitted to admit an audience, whereas football was not.
