Arteta Fumes, Calls For VAR In Europa Group Stage

Despite Arsenal running out of comfortable winners against Molde, Mikel Arteta has called for the introduction of the video assistant referee in Europa League group games. In the game, with a 100 percent winning record courtesy of a strong victory, the Gunners reached the halfway point of Group B, but there could have been more as Eddie Nketiah had what seemed to be a legitimate goal called out for offside after Nicolas.

VAR, unlike the Champions League, is not used in the Europa League group stages.
“I don’t think it makes any sense because we have the technology and we all agree it is the right decision for us to do it,” said Arteta. “So I don’t understand, we were complaining with the referee because we were told he was clearly onside and obviously that’s a situation that can clearly alter the game.” And I think it is something they have to look at and if possible fix it.

To end the game well and in the good work their manager is doing, Arteta’s men beat 4-1.
