Wolves 1-1 Newcastle: Late Raul Jimenez And Jacob Murphy Goals Sees Points Shared

Posted by

Wolves dominated the second period after an even, but goalless, first half and finally got the reward for their pressure when, in the 80th minute, Jimenez thundered a strike home, sending it through Karl Darlow ‘s fingertips.

Yet 1-1 draws are a speciality in this fixture, with the sides now ending their last four Premier League encounters with the same scoreline. Murphy (89) curved a free-kick around the Wolves wall to secure a point for the hosts, who are undefeated in their last seven league trips to Molineux, with Newcastle’s only shot on target in the second half.

Wolves started strongly, and in the first 10 minutes, Daniel Podence went close twice. He sent an effort thundering goalwards, but Darlow made a good, leaping save, showing no ill-effects of a knock he picked up against Manchester United last weekend. The second was less descriptive for Podence, sending an attempt to rifle into the vacant stands.
