Mikel Arteta’s Gunners is reported to have made a late move to sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid before tonight’s transfer deadline according to Goal. Few months to now, Atletico Madrid have been in talks with Arsenal on the possibility of landing the Ghana International and Arsenal have negotiated that the Spanish giant step down on the release clause of £46 million but the Diego Simeone’s Atletico has made it clear that it is either the Gunners pay that amount or go to hell with their money.

With the current update, Arsenal who previously indicated that the release is too high is now willing to meet the clause and have indicated such to La Liga. Addressing fans after Sunday’s 2-1 win against Sheffield United, boss Mikel Arteta reassured fans that the club would be doing all they can to add to the squad before Monday night’s deadline.

“What I can guarantee is that we are doing our maximum for that to happen, whether we are going to achieve it or not, I don’t know,” said the Spaniard, when discussing the possibility of bringing in new signings.
