The battle for where Willian plays next season has ended as the Blues has finally given up on one of their best long time mildfielders. While the Brazilian wanted a three-year new deal, his former Chelsea only willing to offered him two but it was Mikel Arteta’s side who won the talented player at the end. In Arsenal manager’s words, “I believe he’s a player that can really make a difference for us.” “We had a clear intention to strengthen in the attacking midfielder and the winger positions.”
The Brazilian made 339 appearances for Chelsea after signing from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala for £30m in 2013 and won five major honours with the Blues, including two Premier League titles and the Europa League, and was voted the club’s players’ player of the year twice. While Arsenal finished eighth in the Premier League last season, Chelsea were fourth and secured a Champions League spot but the Gunners was able to beat their London rivals in the FA Cup final to secure a place in the Europa League. Willian, Chelsea fans love you and appreciate you for your good work and also wish you well.
