In the Coppa Italia last 16, AC Milan came from behind to upset rival Serie A club Genoa after extra time.
Leo Skiri Ostigard, a Brighton loanee, had put Genoa ahead in the first half, but Olivier Giroud, a former Arsenal and Chelsea striker, headed home a cross from Theo Hernandez to force extra time.
Rafael Leao gave Milan the lead for the first time in the 102nd minute.
Stefano Pioli’s side advanced as Hernandez set up Alexis Saelemaekers to score Milan’s third goal.
Milan, who are now second in Serie A, has won the Coppa Italia five times, the latest time in 2003, and will meet either Lazio or Udinese in the quarter-finals in February.
