Jurgen Klopp May Decide To Play Alisson Becker In Liverpool’s Carabao Cup Semi-Final With Arsenal To Boost The Brazilian’s Match Fitness After Covid

Because Alisson Becker, Liverpool’s first-team goalkeeper, is low on playing time, Jurgen Klopp may select for him over habitual cup choice Caoimhin Kelleher in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal.

Kelleher, a 23-year-old shot stopper, has appeared in every cup match for Liverpool this season, including the quarter-final penalty shootout win over Leicester that advanced Klopp’s side to the last four.

However, goalkeeper Alisson has missed Liverpool’s past two matches due to coronavirus and has not played in over two weeks, so Klopp may decide to give him some playing time to help him recover from his illness.

‘Caoimh is the goalkeeper for this competition, but there is a chance Ali will play tomorrow purely because of the scenario we were in,’ Klopp told Liverpool’s official website.
