As Australia considers deporting tennis star Novak Djokovic, he has acknowledged to making mistakes on his immigration documents and meeting a journalist despite testing positive for Covid.
The comments were made in an Instagram post by Djokovic to clear up “ongoing misconceptions” concerning his whereabouts.
The world number one in men’s tennis hopes to compete in the Australian Open next week.
However, a dispute over his visa has overshadowed his participation.
Djokovic’s visa was revoked on 6 January, only days after he arrived in Australia, amid suspicions about the vaccine exemption that would have allowed him to enter.
However, on Monday, a judge drastically overturned the ruling and ordered the player’s release from custody.
