Guinea-Bissau was held by Sudan in their Africa Cup of Nations Group D opener after missing a late penalty.

Pele’s 82nd-minute penalty was saved by Sudan goalkeeper Ali Abou Achrine, with Piqueti hitting the crossbar on the rebound.

Inside the area, Abou Achrine was found to have fouled Steve Ambri.

Joseph Mendes of Guinea-Bissau also hit the post with a first-half header, and Frederic Mendy’s late shot was cleared off the line.

In Group D, Kelechi Iheanacho scored twice as Nigeria defeated Egypt, the seven-time champions, easily.
