Manchester United and Real Madrid are allegedly in talks to bring defender Raphael Varane to Old Trafford this summer. As the Red Devils attempt to put together a Premier League title challenge next season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is anxious to bring in a new centre back to play with Harry Maguire.
Maguire’s regular partner in recent seasons has been Victor Lindelof, but there is still opportunity for development at the heart of United’s defense if they are to fight for big titles again.
Varane appears to be United’s top target, as his Real deal expires in less than a year. If the Spanish club does not sign the 28-year-old centre-back this year, they risk losing him for free the next summer.
Real, on the other hand, appear wary of losing Varane after allowed Sergio Ramos to leave on a free transfer earlier this summer. United has been in talks with Real for the past week in an attempt to achieve an agreement.
