Arsenal’s Maddison Mission: Gunners Step Up The Pursuit And Ready For A Swap Deal

Arsenal is willing to make a lot of offers to Leicester in order to see if they can recruit James Maddison this summer. After Martin Odegaard returned to Real Madrid at the end of his loan spell, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is looking for a creative midfielder. Maddison is a top target for Arteta.

It is thought that £50 million would not be enough to entice Leicester to the table at this point, but Arsenal would allow a periphery player – such as winger Reiss Nelson – to walk the other way to sweeten the deal.

Though negotiations would be challenging, Arsenal believes Leicester is willing to talk. Another player available for transfer is Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who Leicester looked at in January.

Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Leicester City, wants to bring in a wide forward before the start of next season. Nelson, 21, has only one year left on his Emirates Stadium contract and has only made 22 appearances under Arteta, the last of which was in January.
