Arsenal’s chances of landing key target Manuel Locatelli are dwindling after Juventus’ first bid was turned down by the midfielder’s Serie A club Sassuolo. After playing in Italy’s championship-winning Euro 2020 campaign, he has piqued the interest of numerous top-flight clubs.
Locatelli scored two goals in five games at the tournament, although he had a low point when he missed his penalty in the semi-final shootout triumph over Spain.
Arsenal is rumoured to have made a counter-offer for €45 million (£38.5 million), but Locatelli has previously stated that Juventus is his preferred destination.
‘Up until now, I haven’t really thought about it, I couldn’t,’ Locatelli told Sky Sport Italia of his future after Euro 2020.
