More than a million people have signed a petition calling for racial abusers to be barred from football fields for the rest of their lives.
After missing penalties in a shootout against Italy in Sunday’s Euro 2020 final, three black England players were racially insulted online.
After the Three Lions’ sad defeat at Wembley, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, and Jadon Sancho were singled out for criticism.
More than a million people have now signed a petition urging the government and sports authorities to go even further and implement automatic lifelong bans for anyone who racially insult players. The initiative has received support from rugby star and England World Cup winner Phil Vickery, comedian Eddie Izzard, and beauty model Katie Price.
The petition, headlined ‘Ban racists from all football matches in England for life,’ was started by anti-racism activist Shaista Aziz and her pals, known as the Three Hijabis.
