Etheridge had been training with Blues ahead of the new season until he became ill, with the 31-year-Twitter old’s account retweeting the club’s status update. ‘The club can confirm that Neil Etheridge is now receiving treatment for COVID-19 in hospital,’ it said. Everyone at BCFC is giving him our best wishes and all of our strength.’
‘On behalf of the board, staff, players, and everyone associated with the club, we’re all behind Neil and rooting for him in his fight against COVID-19,’ said Craig Gardner, the club’s technical director.
The family said, “We’re in daily communication with his immediate family and will continue to assist them in any manner we can.” We’re hoping to get him home as soon as possible, and he’s in the best possible hands.’
