Just days before facing England in the Euro 2020 final, the Italy team was apparently hit by a Covid-19 scare.
The Azzurri are due to face Gareth Southgate’s side in the showpiece final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening, but the camp has been rocked by panic after positive tests were returned.
According to the Sun, three members of the Italy media crew working within the bubble tested positive for coronavirus on Friday. Confirmation of the testing was alleged to have put the Italian set-up into a panic, prompting emergency measures to be implemented right away.
The designated Italy training camp in Coverciano, on the outskirts of Florence, was promptly closed, and a specialised cleaning team was dispatched to sterilize the premises.
