The Premier League and other competitive sport survived the latest lockdown in England on Saturday night after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the show would go on in professional sport.
The month-long lockdown begins on Thursday and Oliver Dowden, the Culture Minister, announced that top-level sport will not be affected. Dowden tweeted that people should be able to work from home, but ‘if this is not feasible, it is allowed to travel to a workplace – such as elite sports played behind closed doors.’
Johnson instructed the nation to remain at home in an attempt to reverse Covid 19 ‘s spread.
