In Manchester United ‘s 4-1 victory over Newcastle, Bruno Fernandes admits he erroneously changed his penalty strategy. Although the Red Devils star put his side ahead with a brilliant finish in the 86th minute, after Karl Darlow made a fine save to the bottom left of the net, he had a spot-kick saved in the 58th minute.
Speaking after the game, Fernandes acknowledged that for his spot-kick he followed a different strategy and is ready for rival fans to point out that his perfect record from the spot is no more. “Sometimes I adjust already. It doesn’t fit today,” he told the BBC’s Match of the Day.
“I want to bring the ball in the corner more, but it wasn’t good enough. Congratulations to him for being the first to save me a penalty in the Premier League. That’s 11 taken and one missed. People will now say that I can miss a penalty.
